Christmas Music

It is always refreshing to be reminded of the innocence of children. Hannah, our 12-year-old, is not a believer in Santa. Allison (8 years old) is riding the fence. She wants to believe, but doesn't want to fall for a practical joke if Santa isn't real. Trevor (almost 7), on the other hand, is 100% certain that not only does Santa exist, but he lives just down the road in North Pole at the Santa Claus House. Anyway, we had the whole family in the car the other night with the Christmas music jamming, when the song, I Saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus came on. About halfway through the song, Trevor was just grinning away, and asked me, "Dad, what would you do if you saw Mom kissing Santa?" I just started laughing and told him that I wasn't too worried about it. Kinda makes me chuckle at the picture playing about Christi kissing SC going on in his little noggin.
On another Christmas music note (pun intended), we had a community open house at the church tonight, celebrating the meaning of Christmas by displaying a collection of Nativity scenes. The Ward choir, along with several soloists, instrumentalists, and musical groups from the Fairbanks area and from other churches performed background music as people from the community perused the collection of Nativities. It was a neat experience to be reminded, after an afternoon of shopping for presents, what this season is truly about.
